Bluebasil Press Release

We are delighted to share with you our first press release, telling the world about our experiences in 2020, which led to the move to our new premises in Warwick:

There hasn't been much in the way of good news for UK businesses lately, but one company is bucking the trend. Based in Warwickshire, Bluebasil Brownies has been going from strength to strength thanks to the popularity of its online gift boxes. With people across the UK isolated from family members during the first lockdown, they began looking for new ways to reach out to each other. Posting treats became a popular way to celebrate special occasions and cheer up loved ones. The personal service and handmade touch offered by Bluebasil, helped fulfil heart felt messages and connect again. Filled with delicious chocolate brownies, Bluebasil’s gift boxes have quickly become one of the rare success stories of 2020.

As with many other businesses, the COVID-19 outbreak was a huge shock to Bluebasil, forcing the company to re-evaluate all parts of the business. Taking a tough decision, it chose not to reopen the coffee shop in Leamington Spa and to refocus all efforts into the brownie gift boxes instead.

The company has recently announced that it will be moving to larger premises in Warwick. The increased space will allow Bluebasil to expand further, baking even more brownies, sending out even more gift boxes and fulfilling larger corporate and wholesale orders. Nikki Taylor, founder of Bluebasil Brownies explains how the company has been able to make the most of a tough situation:

"2020 has been a year no one could have anticipated and we have had to adapt our business in this new Covid-19 world. In July, we took the decision to close our coffee bar & shop in Leamington Spa in order to focus 100% on our bakery. We are delighted to announce our chocolate brownies are moving to a brand new, bigger home in the historic town of Warwick to allow us to grow and expand our business."

It’s been quite a journey for Bluebasil Brownies. The company started life a decade ago on a kitchen table in the Cotswolds. In just 10 years, it has grown into a nationwide favourite, winning a succession of Great Taste Awards, featuring in Vogue magazine, and even delivering brownies to Number 10 Downing Street. But the biggest testimonial of all is that of loyal customers returning time and time again for a product they are confident will deliver quality and a personal, artisan touch.

Although the pandemic made things tricky, there was never any question of giving up. In these uncertain times, the Bluebasil team realised that receiving a box of brownies can make a huge difference to someone’s day. On top of donating some boxes to well deserved NHS and care home teams, the staff at Bluebasil made it their mission to carry on, working tirelessly to ensure that the UK’s birthdays, anniversaries and new babies didn’t go uncelebrated. Now, thanks to its new premises, Bluebasil can do even more to lift the nation’s spirits.

Stevie Wonder once said, “if love is as sweet as a flower, then my mother is that sweet flower of love.” Though he might have substituted the flower with a brownie, had he tasted a Bluebasil Bakery brownie, and – we can assure you - his mum certainly would have thanked him.

Why sending Valentines brownies is the ultimate gift of love

January 20, 2022

Much of how the annual day of love came to be remains a mystery, veiled by the passage of time. The earliest possible origin tale of Valentines Day is the pagan fertility festival of Lupercalia observed each year in Ancient Rome on February 15th. There was little romance to be seen on this day when the feasting was accompanied by sacrificial rituals followed by spontaneous acts of matchmaking...
